Managing the Domain Forwarding services

Manage Domain Forwarding Services:

Destination URL : Enter the Destination URL where you want to forward/redirect your Domain

>Click on Save Changes.

Additional Options:

URL Masking : If you enable URL Masking, then visitors to the domain name will be forwarded to your destination website; however the URL in their browser address bar will remain the same.

Example:

Your website is hosted at http://destination.domain-name.com and you choose to forward http://domain-name.com to this website. If you enable URL Masking, your visitors will never see http://destination.domain-name.com as a URL in their browser address bar.

To Enable/Disable URL Masking

Select either:

  • the Yes radio button in URL section for enabling this feature, or
  • the Off radio button for disabling it.

Header Tags : Enabling URL Masking will serve a "Frames" page to the browser. You can add TITLE and META tags for your "Frames" page here. Examples: <title>My Home page</title> <meta name="keywords" CONTENT="keyword1, keyword2, etc."> <meta name="description" CONTENT="website description"> Note: Do not add the tags <head></head>. This will be added automatically.

No Frame Contents: Enabling URL masking will serve a "Frames" page to the browser. You may want to set an alternate "noframes" page content for search engines. Enter your HTML within in the "No Frames Content" box to set alternate page content. Note: Do not add the tags <noframes></noframes>. This will be added automatically.

Subdomain forwarding: Using the Subdomain Forwarding service, you can forward any visitor from http://subdomain.domain-name.com to http://destination-domain-name.com/subdomain. The Subdomain Forwarding Service can also be used in conjunction with URL Masking Service.

To Enable/Disable Subdomain Forwarding

Select either:

  • the Yes radio button in Subdomain Forwarding section for enabling this feature, or
  • the No radio button for disabling this feature.

Path Forwarding: This feature would be highly useful when you already have a full fledged website on a particular domain name and want to not only forward some other domain name to it, but also all the paths associated with the website. Thus, if you forward http://domain-name.com to http://destination-domain-name.com and you enable Path Forwarding for it, then http://domain-name.com/index/index.html would be forwarded to http://destination-domain-name.com/index/index.html and so on.

Path Forwarding will also work perfectly with URL Masking. In this case, if you type in http://domain-name.com/index/index.html in the browser, the URL in the browser would not change but the page displayed will be of http://destination-domain-name.com/index/index.html.

 To Enable/Disable Path Forwarding

Select either:

  • the Yes radio button in Path Forwarding section for enabling this feature, or
  • the No radio button for disabling this feature.
